2012′s Heroes of Film – Three Faces to Watch!

Liam Hemsworth and Miley CyrusThe news that Titanic is being re-released in 3D 14 years after it originally hit cinemas made me remember how much everyone loved Leonardo Di Caprio back then. As a 13 year-old, I had never seen any guy so good looking and he was definitely my first celebrity crush. His posters covered my bedroom walls and I even managed to cover my schoolbooks in pictures of him, a move that horrified my teachers.

Now it’s 2012, the 90s are a distant memory and Leonardo, now 38, has passed his crown over to some new gorgeous men. The good thing about these guys is, as well as being easy on the eye, they happen to also be extremely talented actors. Here are my three new heroes of cinema:

1. Channing Tatum
Channing first rose to fame in 2005’s Coach Carter and stretched his comedic talents in 2006’s She’s the Man before landing a leading role in Step Up. Since then his career has gone from strength to strength, gaining roles in Dear John, The Fighter and The Vow. Channing has several films out in 2012, the first of which is 21 Jump Street, a tale of two fallen cops who go undercover at a local high school. The trailer looks hilarious and starring alongside funnyman Jonah Hill will hopefully show Channing’s comedy talents. Unfortunately for us, Channing is already taken – he is married to his Step Up co-star, Jenna Dewan. Some girls have all the luck.

2. Ryan Reynolds
Ryan, 35, has made a few questionable film choices (Van Wilder; Party Liason anyone?) but he has slowly been building an enviable career with such hits as The Proposal, Definetly Maybe and slightly darker movies such as Buried. (a nightmare of a watch for any claustrophobic such as myself; sorry, but not even Ryan Reynolds could make that movie watchable for me). Ryan’s latest movie is Safehouse, with Denzel Washington in which he plays a young CIA agent tasked with looking after a fugitive in a safehouse. In real life, Ryan, who split from wife Scarlett Johansson, is now dating Gossip Girl star Blake Lively. Nope, not jealous at all….

3. Liam Hemsworth
Liam’s name may not be immediately recognisable, but it soon will be. You may know him more from celebrity magazines than from movies, as Liam, 22, is dating Miley Cyrus. Originally from Australia, Liam starred in Home and Away and Neighbours before gaining roles in horror movie Triangle and the Miley Cyrus movie The Last Song. However, Liam’s role in eagerly awaited movie The Hunger Games is set to propel him to stardom of A-list proportions. Young, talented and impossibly good looking, Liam has a great career ahead of him.
