‘Always The Brides Maid Never The Bride’ at 2012 Golden Globes

Modern bride: Kate Beckinsale in a strapless dress by Roberto CavalliBridal-inspired dresses were the hot look for celebs at the 2012 Golden Globes last night. For the first ceremony of the awards season the A-listers set out to make unique fashion statements when walking down the aisle… I mean red carpet.

There was a mixture of colours and trends on display at the awards ceremony held in L.A, which was once again hosted by the notoriously silver-tongued Ricky Gervais. The groom for the evening captivated his audience as ever and to match his daring monologues wore a blood red suit with black lapels.

Status was marked at the gongs with each woman’s choice of gown; the veteran actresses stepped out in pale, cool and snow-inspired hues for a series of white hot looks while the up-and-coming females opted for bold colours, in simple designs, with strapless outfits being the most popular choice of the evening.

Not the usual look into fashion future, the outfits at the Globes last night didn’t do much to tantalise the world’s style taste buds, maybe they’re saving the best outfits for the Oscars. Over all, the red carpet consisted of some cliched designs mixed with what I felt were dated trends and bad fashion predictions. Like most weddings – a bit of a disappointment really.
