Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry

Amy Winehouse wearing her Fred Perry collection dressHoundstooth and gingham fabrics, bowling shirts and pencil skirts; it can only be the eagerly anticipated clothing range designed by the late Amy Winehouse. After much speculation as to whether it would be released, Amy’s collection for Fred Perry is now on sale with the blessing of her family.

Since Amy passed away last month her Back to Black album returned to number one in the album charts and five of her singles re-entered the top forty singles chart. Not only was she a talented musician, she also proved herself within the world of fashion with her first clothing range in collaboration with Fred Perry. The most noticeable difference between this and her previous assortment is the lack of colour, the entire collection is black and white.

In Amy’s collection you will find twists on the iconic Fred Perry polo shirt; with deep five button necks, petite stand up collars, turn up sleeves and ultra slim fits. Amy has also designed a traditional nineteen fifties cropped, slim fit, gingham bowling shirt. The contrasting inner black fabric is a beautiful touch with the collar and cuffs turn-able to reveal the black fabric. In terms of knitwear you will discover a mix of cropped cardigans, longline sweaters and knitted dresses priced between £85.00 and £125.00.

There is just one skirt in this twenty-one-piece garment range, a high waisted houndstooth pencil skirt. The skirt looks fantastic with Amy’s knitted silk shirt, with the high waistline flattering any figure. The skirt cleverly has belt loops attached ready to fit a matching ‘Amy’ chunky leather waist belt, with a metal laurel wreath and a houndstooth inner lining.

The statement piece of this collection is the black bodycon dress and is the most expensive piece in the collection priced at £195.00. The dress consists of a corset style binding which along with the elastane fabric defines a shapely figure. Adjustable straps and a hidden zip at the back of the dress also help towards creating the perfect fit bodycon dress.

Another dress of particular note is a nineteen-fifties inspired shirt-dress produced in a micro-houndstooth fabric that reflects one of Amy’s own signature styles. The dress features a contrasting fabric collar, cuffs, waist belt, black buttons and Amy’s embroidered signature.

The collection also boasts accessories including black patent leather clutch and bowling bags priced at £60.00-£70.00. The ultimate accessories from this range are the leather gloves which consist of a houndstooth pattern with the laurel wreath logo on the outer hand and black leather on the inner hand.

Fred Perry stated, “Amy was passionate and dedicated to the collaboration and her signature style is clearly stamped across each piece.”

All proceeds will be donated by Fred Perry to the soon to be established Amy Winehouse Foundation. The aim of the charity is to help those struggling with addiction that cannot afford the price of private rehabilitation. When you purchase a piece of this collection, you’ll be both investing in a piece of fashion history and helping a fantastic cause.
