Dannii Minogue Quits The X-Factor!

Dannii MinogueSo not only have we lost Cheryl and Simon, we have also learnt that Dannii will no longer be a judge on the hit ITV show.

Speaking on her Twitter page today: ‘During discussions for me to return [to The X-Factor] it became clear that unfortunately, this year, the X Factor audition dates in the UK clash with the live shows of Australia’s Got Talent during June and July. For this reason I am unable to return. I want to wish the new judges every success for this year’s show, and can’t wait to see who the British public choose as their next big star.’

It has been an interesting journey for Miss Minogue ever since she first joined the panel back in 2007. The British public did not take well to her in the beginning with many criticising her for not being talented enough and only being there for her looks. Her presence on the panel famously lead Sharon Osbourne to quit and started one of the most famous celebrity feuds in recent times.

Despite the negative press and being bullied by Louis Walsh, it was not long before Dannii began to shine. It soon became clear that she did know what she was talking about and we all began to respect her opinion.

It soon emerged that Dannii was the only one out of the panel to truly act like a mentor to her contestants. While Simon, Cheryl and Louis had minimal contact with the people in their category, Dannii spent as much time with them as possible. The contestants in her category could not stop singing her praises with Aiden Grimshaw and Matt Cardle even taking to YouTube just to gush about how amazing she is.

The dedication to her acts clearly shone through and was one of the contributing factors to her new found popularity. She became such a fan-favourite that for the sixth and seventh series of the X-Factor she was voted the most popular judge, ahead of Cheryl and Simon.

Her biggest triumph was the last series where her contestant, Matt Cardle, won by a landslide. Every week she constantly triumphed over Cheryl in the style stakes wearing creations from her recently launched Project D collection of dresses.

Dannii leaves us on a high and we are all sad to see her go. We now have another judging seat to fill, and if the rumours are to be believed it is between Strictly judge Aleesha Dixon and Tulisa from N-Dubz.

Louis Walsh has not yet been confirmed for the new series, in which case we could have a completely different panel when the show returns in September.
