Jurors assessing the dismissal case against Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry are struggling to reach a verdict.
Nicollette Sheridan insists she was fired after telling the TV network’s bosses that the writer/producer had hit her on set.
Cherry’s defence is that he was merely demonstrating how he wanted her to act in a scene. He also claims that this incident had nothing to do with her being axed from the show. According to the defence, the decision to kill off Sheridan’s character, Edie Britt, had been made months prior to the incident.
The twelve person jury are deliberating and although still undecided it is believed that they are swaying in Sheridan’s favour. If Sheridan wins she will be compensated with £3.5 million in damages from Cherry and the show’s network bosses ABC.
Elsewhere, speculation is rife that Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are now engaged after Aniston was spotted wearing a large diamond ring. The star has previously mentioned that she does like to have her fun with the media so it may be a cheeky way of getting the papparrazi into a frenzy or they may well be engaged now. They have already discussed plans for a wedding in Hawaii so it wouldn’t be surprising if they were now officially engaged.
Finally, Aniston’s close friend, Courtney Cox recently stated that she intends to keep things friendly with her ex husband David Arquette but claims she is still finding it difficult to get over her marriage. It’s a shame that so few Hollywood marriages last, let’s hope Aniston’s second one does.
