Liverpool based reality show Desperate Scousewives, was expected to give The Only Way Is Essex, Made in Chelsea and Geordie Shore a run for ratings, until it has now been rumoured the Channel 4 based program will not be returning for a second series.
The Scousewives cast have received a mixed reaction from viewers and producers are said to be concerned that audiences of the show have failed to warm to the characters in the same way they have towards, The Only Way Is Essex glamour girls, Made in Chelsea’s rich residents and Geordie Shore’s party people. Channel 4 executives have also been in limbo as to whether commissioning a second series is a good idea after the low ratings series one pulled in last month.
Famous former Liverpool residents who have backed the program include, Abbey Clancy, who encouraged her brother and cousin to join the show and Coleen Rooney, but this has still failed to boost the overall ratings.
The Daily Star quoted a show insider who said: ‘We had hoped Desperate Scousewives would really give TOWIE a run for its money.’
They then went on to add: ’But sadly that’s not been the case. For whatever reason people have just not warmed to the characters and there hasn’t been a great buzz.’
Maybe it’s time for the rollers to be laid to rest and the heels to be hung away girls.
