So the Emmys were the talk of the town last week. Kate Winslet took home the best actress gong for her part in the television adaptation of Mildred Pierce. Aside from winning such a prestigious award, Kate was also a hot topic of conversation because of her amazing outfit. Kate’s Ellie Saab gown fitted her like a glove and allowed her to show off her sensational figure. She kept it simple and let the dress do the talking.
Following Kate’s lead were Glee’s Lea Michele and Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev who both chose stunning scarlet gowns. Nina opted for a Donna Karen strapless dress, which clung to her curves and the ruffles at the bottom simply made the dress more dramatic. Lea Michele wore a Marchesa gown with embellished sleeves and a cut-away back. They showed that red is definitely the colour to be seen this season.
All three women showed that less is more when it comes to red carpet fashion. However this was not the case for some celebs. Glee’s Diana Agron chose a very unflattering blue Roksanad Ilincic gown. It’s ruche neck and tie waist did nothing to accentuate Diana’s normally flawless figure. Zooey Deschanel’s Monique Lhuillier 50’s inspired dress made her look like a child playing dress up. For someone that is usually so effortlessly chic, this was definitely not one of Zooey’s best looks.

Although some celebs may have failed to hit the spot with their Emmy gowns, they certainly showed that anything goes on the red carpet. And lets face it, without some disastrous dresses fashion would be very boring indeed!
