Girls Aloud Set To Reunite!

Girls AloudThey have been on a break since 2009 and now the rumours are rife that Girls Aloud are heading back to the studio in 2012. Since their hiatus the five girls have enjoyed their time apart and each tried their hands at various other projects, some being more successful than others.

Here is what each of them has been up to:

Nicola Roberts

Being in Girls Aloud hasn’t always been easy for Nicola who has admitted that she always felt like the ugly one of the group. With her pale skin and ginger hair often attracting negative comments, she would use excessive amounts of tanning products. However, with age comes acceptance and Nicola is now proud in her own skin. She then developed a make-up range, Dainty Doll, specifically aimed at girls with pale skin tones. She has also strongly spoken out over the dangers of sun-beds and even recorded a documentary shown on BBC Three entitled: Nicola Roberts: The Truth About Tanning. She has also supported legislation to ban underage children using sun-beds.

As well as using her profile to raise awareness for such an important issue, Nicola has recently recorded her debut solo album. Cinderella Eyes is her first solo record and will be released this autumn.

Nadine Coyle

Once described by Louis Walsh as the true star of the band, Nadine hasn’t been in much contact with the girls. Her permanent residence is now in Los Angeles where she owns her own Irish pub. Nadine’s Irish Mist is located on Sunset Beach, Orange County and is run by Nadine with the help of her family. Hoping to replicate Cheryl’s solo success Nadine set to work on her own solo album. Her debut solo album, Insatiable, was released in November 2010 and received under-whelming chart success. Insatiable peaked in the UK at number 47 and only one single has been released from it.

Things were looking up for Nadine’s personal life when she became engaged to Jason Bell, an American football player; however it was announced last month that they have decided to split.

Kimberly Walsh

Kimberly strikes me as the nicest and most down to earth member of Girls Aloud and since 2009 she has been keeping herself busy with various presenting jobs. She presents Suck My Pop for music channel Viva and has done guest spots for Channel 4 and Channel 5. She landed a role in a 3D family movie, Horrid Henry: The Movie set for release this August. Kimberly teamed up with Aggro Santos for his debut single, Like U Like, which peaked at number 8 on the UK charts.

Kimberly is engaged to her boyfriend of eight years, Justin Scott.

Sarah Harding

Since the band has been on a break Sarah has concentrated on her acting career. Having made a brief appearance in St.Trinians along with her fellow bandmates, Sarah then went on to land a main role in the film’s Sequel, St. Trinians: The Legend Of Fritton’s Gold. She also secured a £100,000 contract to become the face of Ultimo.

Sarah is one of the girls who have something to celebrate in their personal lives as her boyfriend, DJ Tom Crane, proposed to her on New Year’s Eve 2010 while on holiday in the Maldives.

Cheryl Cole

No doubt the most successful member of Girls Aloud, although we wonder if she’s actually had time to rest since going on a break from the band. It’s been a turbulent three years for Cheryl what with becoming an X-Factor Judge, becoming the nation’s sweetheart, being the centre of a media hate campaign and landing a job in America only to be fired two weeks later. And that’s not even the start of it.

Cheryl has enjoyed huge success as a solo artist with both her solo albums, 3 Words and Messy Little Raindrops, debuting at number one in the charts. She signed a £1 million pound contract to become the face of L’Oreal along with many other endorsement deals. She also came dangerously close to death when she contracted Malaria after holidaying in Tanzania with Derek Hough.

Cheryl’s personal life has been full of drama in the past three years. Since her high-profile divorce from Ashley Cole, Cheryl has been romantically linked to Black-Eyed-Pea’s Will.I.Am and dancer Derek Hough. It’s no wander she wants to get back to her band mates.

In 2012 it will be ten years since Girls Aloud were formed on Popstars: The Rivals and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a tour and a brand-spanking new album.
