‘Interior. Leather Bar’ is one of many entries into this year’s Sundance Film Festival. It is a re-imagining of a lost scene from the controversial 1980′s film ‘Cruising’ which delves deep into the gay underworld of leather bars and S&M. ‘Interior. Leather Bar’ is an exploration of sexual freedom and follows a man who finds himself in a world he barely knew about, let alone ever saw. It is thanks to this film that James Franco’s sexuality has come under the harsh public eye yet again. He not only stars in this graphic film depicting gay sex, but is also one of the creative minds behind it. But does this mean he is gay?
Much loved by the women of the world (and the men), Mr Franco is a good looking guy, a successful actor with an infectious smile and a good sense of humour. Not only is he a private man with an air of mystery, he is also sensitive to the deeper issues of the world (because he feels he can make a difference, not to further his public image like other celebs I can think of). But the real question is; “is he gay?”
Having played gay roles in the past, and undoubtedly will play them again, he has been questioned a lot before about whether he likes men or women. Various interviewers have tried to weedle his preferences out of him, only to get a gracious reply that he does not care what people think. We can think that he is gay, or we can think that he is straight. It doesn’t matter to him. He knows who he is and is comfortable with that. He doesn’t need to explain himself to millions of people he doesn’t know. We could all learn something from that.
So who cares if he is likes men? Gay or straight, he will always be a great actor, a staple of Hollywood and a bona fide hottie! Long may he adorn the walls and phone wallpapers of the world!
