Nicki Minaj is planning to release her own line of clothes.
The unconventional rapper has previously launched a pink lipstick through renowned makeup brand MAC, in conjunction with her debut album, Pink Friday, and is expected to create a fashion collection later this year. Her manager, Cortez Bryant confirmed: “It is a priority to negotiate a deal with a fashion house so Ms Minaj can sell her own line of clothes.”
This January sees the launch of a limited edition nail polish collection with OPI. Minaj follows Katy Perry with six nail colours created inspired, of course, by her own unique style. In true OPI fashion, each polish name is based around a Nicki Minaj topic: ‘Fly’, ‘Metal 4 Life’,‘Pink Friday’ and the crackle effect top coat ‘Super Bass Shatter’.
Minaj, who is notorious for her eccentric, ever-changing dress sense, has even credited Marge Simpson as style inspiration.
“Never did I think I would be rocking the Marge Simpson. But you know what, now that I am wearing them I see that she was cutting edge and therefore before her time. So shout out to Marge.”
She added; “My wigs are ever changing in height, width, shade, size. They make me feel happy. Wearing them makes me feel I can be a different personal every day and that is kind of exciting.”
The R’n'B singer told cosmopolitan last year that despite the technicolour getups, there will be some very laid-back wardrobe choices in the collection.
“Give me my sweats!” she said, when explaining what goes into dressing up. “I like transforming from completely raggedy to ‘Ahhh, I’m ready.’ That transformation gives me a high.”
As for the clothes; will they be wearble for the everyday woman? We can only imagine.
