Prince William and his fiancee Kate Middleton are finally getting married. They have announced their plans for a spring/summer 2011 wedding. The prince gave his mother’s engagement ring to his bride-to-be after proposing to her during their holiday in Kenya. By giving Princess Diana’s ring to Miss Middleton, the future king honoured his mother’s memory and felt that this was the way to include her within the celebrations.
Nine years after they met Kate Middleton said that joining the Royal Family was a “daunting prospect” although we’re sure she has had plenty of time to become accustomed to royal life during their lengthy courtship.
The Royal wedding will take place in London in Clarence House and once married they shall reside in north Wales, where the Prince is serving as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot.
The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales are said to be delighted by the news. Earl Spencer, William’s uncle and the brother of Diana, said in a statement: “It’s wonderful news. Very exciting. My family are all thrilled for them both.”
