A man who was convicted of harassing Madonna has escaped from a psychiatric unit in California.
Robert Dewey Hoskins received a 10-year prison sentence in 1996 after he broke into the singer’s home and threatened to slit her throat.
Hoskins was later released from prison and sent to a mental health facility in California.
According to The Los Angeles Police Department Hoskins has “very violent tendencies” and warned members of the public not to approach him, adding; “Hoskins is highly psychotic when not taking his medication.”
During the trial, Madonna claimed she had suffered nightmares and said Hoskins’ claimed to be her husband when attempting to get past her bodyguard.
The news comes after the singer’s controversial performance at this year’s super bowl and the news of an extensive world tour. The release of her 12th album ‘MDNA’ is on March 26.
