Russell Brand and Katy Perry became Mr and Mrs Brand yesterday following a traditional Indian ceremony in a private ceremony at Man-i-Khas resort on the edge of the Rajasthani nature reserve. The wedding was an intimate affair, well by South-Asian standards anyway, with 85 guests consisting of close family and friends.
Russell Brand sported a nude-coloured traditional kurta before later wearing a long, elaborately embroidered coat, known as a shirvani suit. He and his family also upheld the traditional “bharat” portion of the ceremony whereby the groom and his guest walk, accompanied by live music, to where the bride and her family await their arrival.
The guests arrived to the welcoming beat of drums and the majority were also dressed in traditional Indian clothing. True to Asian weddings, the music did not stop there. There were performances from P. Diddy and traditional Indian musicians and dancers.
