Yay! There will be a third Sex and The City movie. It is no secret that Sarah Jessica Parker was quite upset about the negative backlash that the second film received. At that time she had reportedly shelved the idea of creating a third instalment, however, now that some months have passed it would seem she is open to the idea again.
SJP has spoken recently of her thoughts on filming the third movie in a few years time. She reportedly told the media in LA that she feels there is definitely more to tell, more tales about Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and of course, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker).
Whilst a lot of the public spoke about their disappointment that the second SATC movie was more like the series, I for one thought it was great. I certainly enjoyed it more than the first rather depressing one. The second film made me laugh and smile. It still progressed the characters’ lives realistically. It had a bit of culture and the accurate positive portrayal of kind spirited yet reserved Muslims in this Islamic country was welcome. Miranda was so cute and funny and the decadent holiday experience was a joy to watch. The ups and downs of Charlotte’s life was life-like and Samantha was still, quite rightly Samantha. Even the marital issues between Big (Sean) and Carrie were well played out.
Whilst the super bling and over the top gay wedding at the beginning was a great opener the ending was a little unrealistic but aside from that, I for one would love to see more!
What do you think? Which of the two movies did you prefer? What are your thoughts on SATC2? Would you like to see a third?
