The annual MOBO Awards is the biggest night on the urban music calendar and last night they were held in Glasgow for the first time. It is perhaps the coolest trophy an artist can be honoured with and the glitterati who adorned the red carpet proved exactly why. Celebs didn’t let the prestigious event down in the style stakes either and even the chilly 13c temperature couldn’t prevent the ladies flashing their flesh in some fabulous fashions.
The prestigious event was filmed at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) and hosted by American R&B singer Jason Derulo and Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon. Kanya King, founder of MOBO, which stands for Music Of Black Origin, said: ‘It’s been a great event that has welcomed some exciting new award winners to the MOBO roll of honour including the global superstar Adele, the UK’s hot talent Tinchy Stryder and of course the fantastic Jessie J.’
Jessie, 23, was the shining star of the night not only for her outfit choices, she was nominated in 5 out of the 14 award categories and took home a well deserved 4 gongs. Later Dionne Bromfield stole the show with a moving tribute to her godmother Amy Winehouse, performing one of the late icon’s chart topping tracks Love Is A Losing Game.
