Victoria Beckham gave birth to a healthy baby girl yesterday morning, it has been confirmed. The baby girl was born at 7:55 am and weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz. David Beckham took to Facebook to make the offical announcemnt: ‘I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham. She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA.’
The moment Victoria announced that she was pregnant with her first daughter, fourth chid in total; there has been plenty of speculation about what her name will be. Harper is an old English name and the choice of the number Seven as a middle name is due to the fact that the baby was born in the seventh month at around seven o’clock in the morning. The number seven is also a special number for David and carries a lot of significance as it was his team number when he played for Manchester United.
Some of the suggestions that have been banded about in the past few months include; Felicity, Luna, Monica, Liberty, Catherine and Atlanta. The Beckhams are well-known for their un-orthodox choice of names for their three boys, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz so it was highly likely that the new arrival would have a unique name. However, I think we can agree that Harper is quite tame on the celebrity baby name front.
After raising three sons, Victoria has been yearning for a daughter and has apparently spend a fortune on all things pink. Rumour has it that she has even ordered some custom-made Mini-Louboutins for her little girl- I think that little Suri Cruise may soon have a rival in the fashion stakes. Victoria has always said that if she were to be so lucky as to have a daughter then she would be in her element getting to dress her up. I think it is safe to assume that little Harper Beckham is going to have a killer wardrobe from a very young age.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who are currently in Los Angeles, were among the first to send their congratulations to the couple. It was only yesterday that David was seen catching up with William, who is a close friend of the footballer. With three older brothers to protect her as she grows up, two superstar parents with Royal connections and Eva Longoria as a Godmother what else could a girl ask for?
In other baby news Kate Hudson has also given birth this weekend, to a baby boy. This is Kate’s second child and first with finance Matt Bellamy. No news yet on the baby’s name.
