It seems like there’s something uneasy going on in the world of celebrity at the moment, with one break up swiftly following another.
Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis are rumoured to have split, whilst Project Runway star Heidi Klum confirmed her break up with husband Seal. Yesterday it was the turn of N Dubz singers Tulisa Contostavlos and bandmate Fazer, with Tulisa rumoured to have moved in with her PA while the split is still raw.
Although sometimes it may seem as though celebrities jump swiftly from one relationship to another, apparently opting for someone new rather than follow the rest of us and find solace in comfort food and the near enough obligatory Bridget Jones re-run, it seems that their break ups can be just as sudden.
Then again, when you’re famous just going out and singing bad cliché karaoke probably doesn’t cut it. Better instead to get photographed with a younger hotter man than your ex, like Jennifer Lopez did after her split from Marc Anthony, and steal the headlines (as well as the media attention) from your former significant other.
Whether these recent splits are temporary or permanent, and in the case of Heidi and Seal the celebrity favourite phrase “irreconcilable differences” has already been mentioned, remains to be seen but it must be hard to know that when you’re feeling emotional and vulnerable the press will be watching perhaps more closely than ever before. Maybe for those involved the end result will be an extremely well publicised reunion, a bitter and therefore extremely public split or anywhere in between. For Tulisa and Fazer, their song “Say It’s Over” must seem ironic, to say the least.
