Snowed In – Relationship Friend or Foe?

What’s that song that makes snow sound so delightful? “oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful and since we’ve no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…”

How about snow go and take a running jump!

It sounds odd to say the weather can affect your relationship but when Mr Frost comes to town it is by far the most stressful thing ever, my anxiety notches up a few levels. Every little plan is scuppered, whether you’re driving somewhere, on a night out debating whether heels will look great or break you neck on the ice rink that was once your street.

My fella can vouch for this, when the weather isn’t to my liking I take it out on everyone and anyone and he’s usually the one in distance of my snow induced bitch fits.

I read an article a few years ago when we first started having these bad winters that stated couples get on so much better and choose to stay in rather than go out; resulting in lots of September babies. That’s all well and good, each to there own, but these couples are having more sex because the weather is changing their plans. I find that a bit incidental, you should be doing it because you want to, not because you’re bored due to your mates cancelling a night out.

I know you are thinking is this girl really talking about the snow affecting her relationship? She’s a bit of a nutter, good luck to him; well he knows all that and puts up with it, just as I put up with his little habits. Everyone has his or her own little idiosyncrasies, and for me snow isn’t just a mood killer it makes me want to hibernate. I’m not one of those stay in and get warm couples when it’s a winter wonderland outside because I’ll do that in the middle of summer. Hating snow is just one of the littlest things that turn me into the moodiest person ever, maybe I need to go to counselling haha.
