Wedding Branding

weddingEver since I got engaged about a month ago I’ve been looking at ideas on Pinterest and planning what I would like but some of the stuff I’ve found has actually scared me! It’s all well and good planning a wedding and getting caught up in the excitement of it, yet when I found what thecheeky.com sold I was shell shocked.

The item to which I’m referring is the anti cheating ring, described on the site as follows: “With Arnold, Tiger and two timing IMF guy in mind, we have created this wedding ring for people intent on cheating. The negative engraving on the inside means that when you are in the ‘Club’ and an attractive woman…or man comes along to chat, slipping your wedding ring off is not an option. The mark left on your skin says…’I'm Married.”

Costing just $550 the ring can assure a partner that their wife or husband are officially branded as married if they are intent on cheating. What I’m wondering is why would you even need to buy this ring for your new wife or husband? Surely you should be entering marriage with ultimate trust and not thinking about whether your potential life partner would cheat. If there was a need for that ring then maybe you shouldn’t be marrying the person at all.

There is even a lifetime guarantee that comes with every purchase, which basically means if your wife or husband cheats on you then you get your money back. I’ve got a feeling they’ll be offering a lot of money back because the people buying these obviously have reason to buy them in the first place.

Whether people buy this ring or not, I’m not taking it seriously. Marriage should be based on trust, not the reliability of how well a ring indentation will work warning off predatory home wreckers. This hasn’t scared me off wedding planning; I’m just going to stick to the more normal sites. Beware what you type in Google, people!
