Karl Lagerfeld has dubbed Adele as a ‘little too fat’ in an interview with the Metro.
The designer, who recently launched his debut collection, ‘Karl’ told the newspaper: “The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.”
Speaking previously about her size, the singer said: “It’s just never been an issue — at least, I’ve never hung out with the sort of horrible people who make it an issue. I have insecurities of course, but I don’t hang out with anyone who points them out to me.”
But this isn’t the first time Lagerfeld has come into trouble for weight related comments. In 2004 he was forced to apologise by H&M after he complained that his collaboration with the high street chain was available in size 16. He said the line had been created for ‘slim, slender, people’.
Lagerfeld previously employed Lily Allen to be the face of Chanel back in 2009 but it looks like Adele won’t be receiving any offers any time soon, unless it’s to apologise for the offensive remarks.
The multi-award winning singer is set to make her comeback performance since undergoing throat surgery at this year’s Grammy’s.
She said: “It’s an absolute honour to be included in such a night and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all.”
