Alfred Angelo Designs Disney Wedding Dress Collection

Snow White dressThe world is still obsessed with all things Royal. William and Kate still dominate the headlines months after their fairy-tale wedding; therefore the timing is perfect for the launch of a Disney- inspired wedding dress collection.

Renowned wedding dress designer, Alfred Angelo, has partnered up with Disney to create a fairy-tale wedding dress collection inspired by some of our favourite Disney princesses; Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Princess Tiana, Ariel and Jasmine.

We all grew up watching Disney movies and each have our favourite, so I can imagine brides-to-be are thrilled to hear that they can dress like their favourite Disney princess for their own fairy-tale wedding. I have to admit that I was extremely apprehensive when I first heard about this project – surely the dresses were going to be over the top, tacky and only something that Katie Price would wear. However, the dresses are beautiful, elegant and classy. Each are different and have their own story behind their design and conception.

Ariel: The dress mimics the classic mermaid silhouette, fitted at the top and the waist before billowing out into a full skirt made from lace and taffeta. The layering of the skirt represents the movement of the waves.  The dress has been embroidered with pearl beading, subtle metallic accents, crystals and sequins to give it that ocean feel.

Princess Jasmin dressJasmine: This dress is elegant, slinky and represents Jasmine’s bold and exotic style. Made from soft satin the dress also features a micro-ruched bodice and a beautiful halter-neck strap which has been encrusted with rhinestones, crystal beading and pearls.

Belle: This is a take on one of the most famous and recognisable Disney dresses of all time; Belle’s yellow ball gown. This wedding dress is a beautiful version of a classic ball gown with a detachable shrug, subtle gold embroidery in the bejewelled corset and a full, draped skirt.

Princess Tiana: One of the most eye-catching dresses in the collection has been inspired by Disney’s first ever black Disney Princess. The dress has been designed to capture Tiana’s joie de vivre and has taken inspiration from the water lily. The one-shoulder, asymmetric design includes stunning floral and crystal embroidery along with a cascading, ruched skirt.

Snow White: Inspired by nature, the story of Snow White and the beauty of the character herself; this dress is as simple and elegant as it is beautiful. The bodice is embroidered with lace, organza apple blossoms complete with rhinestones to give it a touch of sparkle. The simple netted skirt, embroidered with blossom detail, is completed by a simple satin sash tied around the waist with a bow at the back of the dress.

Sleeping Beauty dressCinderella: This shimmering ball gown has been inspired by Cinderella’s glass slipper and is definitely adds the sparkle to the collection. The gorgeous sweet-heart neckline has been encrusted with crustal beading and rhinestones and is accompanied by a draped, criss-cross bodice which has been designed to make the waist seem smaller. The ball gown skirt is made from taffeta and is draped by a netting of tulle and glitter.

Sleeping Beauty:  Inspired by cascading rose petals, this dress features many layers of gossamer tulle and makes for a very unique design. The billowing skirt compliments the simple, lace bodice with elegant rose embroidery. This dress has a very dreamy, romantic feel to it which perfectly represents the story of Sleeping Beauty.

Each of these dresses are beautiful, elegant and magical in their own way and brides-to-be across the world will be drawn to not only the dress but the story behind it. The director of Disney Fashion and Home wear, Liam Gallagher, has spoken of the collaboration: ‘All brides want to feel like a princess on their special day and we look forward to bringing a little Disney magic to weddings across the country with this new collection of stylish Disney Princess-inspired wedding gowns with Alfred Angelo.’

The dresses are now available in 65 bridal stores across the UK and prices range from £599 to £1199.
