Autumn/Winter 2010-11 brings many quirky looks. For those of you with a tom-boy disposition the fashion trend of mannish shoes is sure to please.
Brogues and loafers are everywhere, from Harrods to H&M, from the catwalks to the high street. The mannish shoe is not only a welcome comfort break from the high heels that seem to be clanking all over the country but also allow fashion conscious ladies to live out their boyish fashion urges. Sometimes fashion feels so focused on accessorising, femininity and flesh baring and not all who adore fashion wish to spend hours in front of the mirror to bare all to the world. These fashion followers will be glad that one of this season’s trends is classically clean, minimalistic elegance with which one can team a pair of comfy brogues or loafers and still hit the mark.
Ankle skimming trousers and smoking trousers, also a big hit this season, are a great way to complete a wholly mannish ensemble. Combine with a crisp slim fit shirt tucked right in to your trousers to finish the look. If you do have large hips, a knitted jumper or cardigan can be a better way to complete the silhouette rather than the slim fit shirt.
Fear not girlie girls, the mannish shoes can fit your wardrobe too. To balance the androgynous look to reflect your personality better, simply replace the trousers and shirt with a feminine floral dress. Alexa Chung is a great example of how this combination can work well.
