I’ve recently been offered a job to work as a content writer for a menswear fashion website which was the inspiration behind my article. I haven’t written as many menswear articles as I have women’s wear, as I’ve always thought this to be a little out of my comfort zone. But now in spirit of my new job, I am looking forward to gaining a fresh perspective on a different area of fashion and hope to build on my writing technique.
As an aspiring fashion journalist, naturally I love to be on the pulse when it comes to current trends, events and designer talent, and I’ve recently discovered that there is more to menswear than you might think… Let me introduce Honduran-born designer, Carlos Campos.
After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology based in New York, this is when Carlos Campos’ brand first came to life. Founded in 2006, Carlos launched his own menswear label reflecting his hard work, love of garment construction and keen eye for style.
Not only does this designer create sharp, tailored menswear, but he’s also branched out into women’s wear too, proving that he is a true artist with diversity and vision.
Perhaps Carlos’ most famous ladies wear collection would be his 2008 collection, entitled ‘David Bowie and Iman’. It’s clear from this title alone that a love of rock music is just one of his muses. Describing his own personal style as ‘elegant jet-set rock star, with a romantic twist’ you can’t help but notice these influences within his beautiful collections.
With structured tailoring, clever use of colour and intricate detailing, Carlos Campos’ designs are modern and sleek for men with expensive taste. Look out for his latest Spring/Summer collection for 2013 which includes drawstring jackets, architectural form and star trek inspired uniforms.
