Harpers Bazaar Celebrates

M Missoni AW11It was a glamorous night out in preparation for Christmas as Harper’s Bazaar hosted its annual festive shopping night out at the Westfield centre in West London. Set in the Designer Village the invitation only event featured an evening programme full of events, all against the backdrop of luxury retailers including Gucci, Dior, Mulberry, Versace, Louis Vuitton and Prada.

Sadly for me I didn’t win anything in the prize draw of the night, a chance to win a designer handbag (sob!), but at least I could be comforted by the champagne and cocktails on offer, not to mention the selection of canapés and other treats that seemed to be everywhere.

Highlight of the night had to be the catwalk show on the first floor, showcasing designs all on sale in the Village. No need to wait months for catwalk designs to reach the shops tonight, we could go straight away to the retailers and find them available (bank balance permitting of course). The catwalk itself was pretty spectacular, jet black with silver sparkles all over, reflecting the chandelier directly overhead.

Burberry AW11Downstairs there was just as much going on with the Esquire lounge for stylish male shoppers (or long suffering boyfriends) as well as beauty and hair demonstrations thanks to the team from Harper’s Bazaar including Newby Hands.

For this night though, it was all about the shopping for me. With incentives and special events apparently everywhere, it wasn’t easy deciding where to start. M Missoni’s new collection, where shoppers could receive a complimentary scarf with their purchases? Or 20% off at denim womenswear designer Donna Ida, while enjoying in-store cupcakes and the prize draw? The only fair and stylish option seemed to be straightforward: visit them all if possible. We did have four hours, after all. It wasn’t all about the fashion though; I did my bit for charity by donating £5 towards the Teenage Cancer Trust and receiving a bag full of treats in return. Feel good fashion never felt so great or so stylish.
