Prada SS12Keeping up to date with fashion’s hottest catwalk trends, it seems the latest style craze has gone novelty. Yes that’s right, designers have certainly let their imaginations run wild this season, with a strong emphasis on fantasy, and how we can have fun with what we choose to wear.

 

Looking to the catwalks, Mulberry had fun-at-the-seaside themes with an array of summer brights that were playful and child-like. Sugary colours were shown throughout their SS12 advertising campaign.

 

Similarly, Prada had some captivating designs for Spring/Summer. With cartoon prints, milkshake shades and 50’s Americana musings, it’s no wonder we’re all geared up for our holidays.

 

Designers are talented in that they begin with a spark of inspiration which can come from anything, whether it be an old movie, an art exhibition, different cultures, street style or perhaps a particular decade; a fresh concept which ultimately turns into the beginning of a fruitful new catwalk collection.

 

That’s not to say that these masters of style get it perfect every time, but what’s important to remember is that there is still that desire from us consumers, the need for visual stimulation. In this case, fashion which takes us to a fantasy world.

Nicknamed the ‘Harajuku Barbie’ it’s not difficult to see why she is a style icon in her own right. Nicki draws her inspiration from a wonderland of colour, playing different characters which transform her look every time; a true fashion figure for confident, young women.

 

Jessie J is another lady who has a quirky and individual sense of style, proving that escaping reality through fashion is what it’s all about.

 

If you enjoy dressing up in all things bold and beautiful, then the novelty trend is definitely for you. All you need is the sparkling personality to go with that new sugar-pop hued outfit.
