For the past few weeks, I have been thoughtfully toying with the idea of buying a pair of patterned trousers. Yet every time the daring and brave idea crept into the ‘fashion’ section of my brain, an image also sprung into the part of my brain labelled ‘sensible’ (a small section I guarantee you) of hung-over, pyjama wearing, slipper clad females, trudging to the corner shop to buy milk for their morning (or afternoon) cuppa and thoughts of crowds of hen parties, taking up whole stretches of pavement wearing nightwear as night wear. However, every time I walked into a shop and saw a pair of these trousers, staring elegantly at me from the hanger, I loved them a little bit more each time.
Floral, subtle animal prints, polka dot or a simple all over colour, there is a pattern to complement everyone. But they look like pyjamas? A little. Though that means that they win hands down in the comfort stakes as well, not to mention that they are more fitted, therefore flattering, and as long as you team them with a classy pair of heels or spring sandals, and NOT giant rabbit slippers or pink, fuzzy bed socks, then I think you have got it sorted.
Alexa Chung has been photographed in them as has Sienna Miller, both looking super stylish, and although we may not all be able to afford the designer price tag, we can certainly pretend so with what appears to be a beautiful selection available on the high street. I purchased mine yesterday at just £10 from Primark and if I’m honest, I think I may even be just a little too excited to wear them. Happy slumbering everyone.
