This week sees the launch of the exciting new collaboration between high street retailer H&M together with iconic designer Versace. Following in the well dressed footsteps of previous collaborations including ranges from Karl Lagerfeld, Lanvin, Matthew Williamson, Jimmy Choo and Valentino, the new range looks set to cause a fashion stampede when it arrives in stores on Thursday 17th November.
Featuring classic Versace style bold prints and bright colours, the designs have been previewed and featured in the fashion press since they were first unveiled, with magazines such as Grazia showing fashion icon and Vogue Japan editor Anna Della Russo in an on trend leather outfit from the collection which she wore at a fashion show two months before the range becomes available in store. Other design features include studded leather costume jewellery along with stand out animal prints. It may not always be subtle, but it’s classic Versace from Donatella. In a first for the designer collections at H&M the Versace range will also include menswear items as well as homeware pieces such as cushions, duvet covers and pillowcases.
Fashion journalists and bloggers have been working themselves into a frenzy over the range ever since it was first revealed there was to be a collaboration, with one piece getting a great deal of attention. The black leather gold studded dress, which retails at approximately £179.99, looks set to be a trans seasonal piece rather than a one season wonder, and if you work out the cost per wear it may not sound quite as much. That’s going to be my justification anyway. Unfortunately for me (and my winter wardrobe) I don’t have Ms Della Russo’s connections and am pretty sure my buys from the range won’t have been couriered at the request of Donatella Versace herself. If only……….
