Get Ahead, Get A Hat!

Dior - Autumn 2011Flicking through magazines lately, it seems every young trendy celeb is rocking a hat. Trilbies, berets, bowlers and floppy fedoras – there are several charming styles knocking around at the moment.

From Jameela Jamil to Posh, the catwalk to the high street – hats are truly in for the autumn/winter season and beyond… and I’m desperate to get my hands on (more than) one!

As accessories go, hats have always been popular – but on the Fashion Weeks of AW 11 and SS 12 there seemed to be more hats than ever! Designers Burberry, Caroline Charles, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Lanvin and Nina Ricci, to name but a few, have all featured headwear in their collections this year.

Out and about, plenty of celebs have been spotted accessorizing their outfits with some very stylist hats…

Fearne’s bowler hat gives her outfit a cute quirky edge, while Posh’s chic newsboy cap complements her full-black outfit well. As for Jameela, her wide-brimmed trilby would’ve been great for the festival season to keep the sun off your face – but is also suitable for this season to protect your hair against that pesky autumn wind.

Rather than purely functional, a hat can be a key accessory in your wardrobe. Black is always a safe choice and (as seen above) a simple black hat can complete and dress-up your outfit. But if you really want to stand out, try adding a splash of colour to your look with some bright headwear. As the cold weather draws in, keep your head warm, been on-trend and try something different than the perennial woolly hat.
