My favourite trend of the season (in fact the whole year!) is by far Aztec.
The print and style originating from Mexico has inspired designers and collections all over the world this summer and the trend hasn’t stopped there, it’s continued on to be a very important and popular trend of autumn/winter 2011 and I couldn’t be more thrilled!
I first took note of this trend when I spotted Rihanna performing on the X Factor back in 2010 in an Aztec inspired costume and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Tribal prints mixed in with geometric patterns have proven to be a big hit with both the high street and designers, with celebrities catching on to the trend such as Kim & Kourtney Kardashian, Rihanna, Ashley Tisdale and Whitney Port (who has even launched an Aztec inspired collection for Whitney Eve Fall 2011 on StyleBistro!).
The popular bright, daring colours and prints of summer have now transformed into warm reds, pinks, orange and browns to create beautiful winter knitwear, such as jumpers, cardigans and knitted dresses.
What’s more, the trend has also caught on with accessories, with the Aztec and tribal print seen on scarves, belts and even footwear! Even jewellery with a lovely tribal effect goes hand in hand with this trend, especially over-sized stones, feathers, fringe and chunky/bold rings and necklaces.
My wardrobe seems to have been taken over by Aztec this winter (not that I’m bothered, mind you!) so let’s take a look at some of the Aztec/tribal inspired pieces I have spotted along the way, one of which is residing in my wardrobe as we speak (CLICK IMAGES TO ENLARGE)…
