I’m A Celebrity… Really?

Another series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is underway. Though I promised myself I would not watch the jungle reality show, I was unfortunately forced to tune in by a friend who is still harbouring a teenage crush on Dougie from McFly, who is taking part this year. However, if she was expecting some sparkling wit and interesting conversation from Dougie she was out of luck – he said about five words the whole episode and spent most of the time lying in a hammock swatting flies off his arm. Why he is even in there is a mystery to me. Every celebrity must fear the day their agent suggests that they sign up for this show, as it means their career is either over or has hit a major rough patch. The show could be done for false advertising with the title, as it suggests that the people in the jungle are actually famous. While I don’t claim to be an expert on every celebrity, if I have to turn to Google to find out who people are whilst I watch, something is very wrong.

Amongst the “famous” people in the jungle are 80s pop star Sinnita (well, can you call her a pop star? She only had two songs that I can think of). Sinnita is now known for being Simon Cowell’s judging assistant on X Factor, though she spent most of her time on the show fanning herself and making headlines for her ridiculous outfit choices. Also in the jungle is Pat Sharp, famous for 90s kids show Fun House, a soap star and a whole host of other people that I had never heard of. It really says something when the most well-known person on the show is Mark Wright from TOWIE.

Despite volunteering to take part in this charade, the “celebrities” seem to be constantly complaining when they have to complete any tasks. Have they not watched the show before? Did they not know they would be expected to eat creepy crawlies and jump into a pit of snakes? The public decided to make Sinnita complete some Bushtucker Trials this week, and she spent most of the time freaking out whilst presenters Ant and Dec looked on in amusement and making cringe-worthy jokes.

And as if the celebrities didn’t have enough to worry about with the snakes, spiders and other jungle inhabitants, now Peter Andre is rumoured to be going in to join them. Peter was one of the success stories of the show after he saw his profile rise dramatically after going into the jungle in 2004. Now he has arrived in Brisbane to appear on the ITV2 behind the scenes show, imaginatively entitled I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here Now. The only thing worse than the actual show itself is the ITV2 companion show.

Peter this week revealed that he may return for a day or so to shake things up in camp. However, he realises he may have some competition in the form of Mark Wright. “He’s the younger generation.” Pete said. “He’s a good looking bloke and he’s probably 15 years younger than me. I can’t compete.”

Let’s just hope that Peter doesn’t start treating the campers to his “singing talents”! That really would be enough to drive them over the edge.

Frankie Sandford Enters Rehab!

Stories are circulating that Frankie Sandford has checked herself into rehab. Although there has been no reason given for Frankie’s break, sources have said that it is not due to drink, drugs or cosmetic surgery. This makes us wonder, what on earth could she be doing?

She has been notably absent from many of the bands recent appearances. First came the rumors that she was leaving the band and then reports surfaced that she had checked herself in to rehab! It wasn’t so long ago that Frankie’s ex-boyfriend, Dougie (McFly) entered rehab after their breakup to try and deal with the stress, so perhaps it has all become too much for the young star.

Frankie recently tweeted: “Sorry I haven’t tweeted in a while.I’ve not been very well.Miss u @MollieTheSats @unahealy @vanessawhite @RochelleTheSats I’ll b back soon x (sic.)”

Frankie is just the next in a string of celebrities checking in to rehab recently. Sarah Harding was reportedly encouraged to take time out by her Girls Aloud bandmates after breaking up with her DJ boyfriend Tom Crane. Girls Aloud gave Sarah the ultimatum of entering rehab or to not be a part of the reunion shows. Harding chose to enter a treatment facility in the States in the hope of being able to mend herself before Girls Aloud reform.

Fingers crossed that both girls have a speedy recovery, and can get back to making music with two of the most successful girl bands in the UK.

Dougie In Rehab Stint Over Frankie Split

Mcfly have been flooding our TV screens promoting their new album and upcoming tour, but the usual foursome has been one man down these past few weeks.

Yes the trio are missing their hunky bassist, Dougie Poynter. Dougie has recently taken time away from the group whilst recovering in rehab for personal issues following his break up with the Saturdays’ Frankie Sandford.

The couple started dating in January 2009 and the relationship came to a frosty end when Frankie dumped him in November 2010. Frankie, who was voted one of FHM’s sexiest women in 2010, swiftly moved on and is now with footballer Wayne Bridge, yet Dougie has been struggling to cope with the split.

Devastated Dougie checked himself into the Priory last month in an attempt to clear his head and get back on his feet for the upcoming Mcfly tour “Above the noise”.

The band was forced to postpone the first three dates of the tour in order to allow more time to rehearse after Dougie’s completion of his stint in rehab.

A source close to the star told the Mirror: “Dougie was absolutely heartbroken when Frankie dumped him. He saw himself getting married and having kids and being with her for life. And he was just crushed. It got to the point where he was struggling to get through the day so he decided to seek help at the Priory clinic. He’s been in there working hard on getting his head straight. He’s not had a phone or been in touch with any of the band. But they’re backing him all the way and hoping he comes out a far happier person.”

Four weeks later and Dougie is said to be recovering well and is all set to reunite with the band to kick off their UK tour on the 18^th of March.

Cheer up Dougie! I’m sure there are plenty of Mcfly fans who are more than willing to fill Frankie’s shoes.
